Growing Green

Is it possible to feed more people using less land, less water and with less impact? Sure it is. We’re doing  that right now.

It’s taken a while, but technology advancements have made it possible to grow significantly MORE produce per acre than traditional farming, recirculate the water used in irrigating the plants, recapture and reuse the fertilizers and nutrients we feed our plants, reduce heat loss, capture and store heat and eliminate particulate emissions into the atmosphere.

Some areas of our farms require no technology at all. Nature does the work. We collect rainwater for irrigation, we have armies of lady bugs, praying mantis’, wasps and other predator insects that keep our produce free of freeloading bugs. We keep bees in our greenhouses to pollinate the plants naturally. And yes, they're busy.

Our packaging is recyclable. And by recyclable we don’t mean some obscure recycling number. We mean PET (the one with the number 1 in the middle of the recyclable logo) – the most common and most easily recycled. We're now working towards PCRPET which is post-consumer recycled PET plastic. We’re close.

Our produce is non-GMO and grown 100% herbicide free. All produce is hand picked and packaged on site, with no post-harvest chemicals or waxing.

Can we be greener? We'll never stop trying. Even with all this technology, we're on the hunt for more efficient ways of maintaining a green company every single day.
