Checking the Oil

August 23, 2011 in Friends

July 12, 2011 in Friends

It’s always disheartening to see people dedicate months to a strict diet, have great success losing 10-20 lbs, sadly followed by an inevitable re-gain. Why is it so difficult to keep weight off? Weight regain occurs in up to 90% individuals who have successfully lost weight. This received a lot of attention at the last American College of Sport Medicine conference I attended. Strawberries and the Fountain of Youth

June 28, 2011 in Friends

The wonderfully sweet taste and deep red color of strawberries can boost the taste and look of any meal. The simple strawberry, a staple in many desserts or enjoyed fresh, is not simple when it comes to its complex network of micronutrients and their far-reaching health benefits. Not only do they taste great, they are very high in antioxidants. The same antioxidants that help combat damaging effects of free radical activity on cellular structures and DNA.

The Crush

May 3, 2011 in Friends

I LOVE garlic. And if you watch my videos, you’ll see whenever I use fresh garlic in a recipe, I generally place a large knife flat side up, over top the clove and pound down on it with my fist or palm.  There’s a method to my madness, I promise.

April 25, 2011 in Friends

Restaurants are funny beasts. They are not static. They morph, grow and change. How many times have you recommended a restaurant to someone only to have a report back that the experience was less than stellar? So when I am asked what my favorite restaurants are, I have to put my answer into context.
